Full Tilt Changes its Rake Calculation Method
Just when you thought it couldn’t possibly get worse - it has.
Full Tilt has decided to change the way it calculates each player’s rake contribution.
That said, the weighted contributed method is the most logical way to calculate rake, but what does it mean for you?
Well FT never makes a change that costs them money, so it must be costing somebody.
Remember that great line from Rounders "If you can't spot the sucker in the first half hour at the table, then you ARE the sucker." Aha!
HOW DOES THIS AFFECT YOU?
Well, you and the majority of rakeback players are tight players. This means that you will play less pots than the average fish and so your rake contribution will most likely drop. This means that your rakeback will also most likely decrease each week.
However, if you are a loose player then Christmas has truly come early for you and you should see a marked increase in your weekly rakeback.
DEALT VS. WEIGHTED CONTRIBUTED
With the Dealt method, everyone in a hand who was dealt card got an even split of the rake. So if the pot was $36 and the rake was $1.80 and there were 6 players, then each player is said to have contributed $0.30 and so you would get 27% of that.
With the Weighted Contributed method, your share of the rake is proportional to the amount you put in to the pot. So if you fold pre flop and have put nothing in to the $36 pot, you get nothing back. But if you put in $15 (of the $36) then you get 15/36 times the rake of $1.80 attributed to you. In this case that is $0.75 and you would get 27% of that in rakeback. As you can see the $0.75 is better than $0.30 Dealt, but $0 is not better than $0.30 Dealt.
